The breeze on Saturday didn't quite cooperate as hoped but Stephen Oram got out there in his Moth and laid down a time.
59 mins and 20 seconds. It's on the leaderboard!
Despite conditions that were far from ideal for foiling, the absolute time is already one that non-foiling monohulls will struggle to beat. Sustained speeds of 16.5 knots!!!
Correcting for PY, that'd be the equivalent of 1hr 48 minutes in a Laser. That time should be achievable so it's all still open on handicap!
We're off to a good start. John Chambers also ran the course, but we're waiting on the GPX file. At least two other boats looked at Saturday morning, but one was still being put together and couldn't make it.
You might notice that Stephen's video has a flat spot at the beginning and end. We checked the file and the time if 59 mins 20 seconds is solid.
